My School

English is taught at both public schools and private schools in South Korea.  The private schools are for-profit businesses that can be really hit or miss for foreign teachers.  I teach at a private school in Gwangju called ECC, which stands for English Center for Children.  ECC is one of the older private English schools in Korea and they have schools all over.  In fact there is another school right here in Gwangju.  I feel very fortunate to be teaching at the school where I do.  The owner of my school really seems to understand Westerns and treats us like family.  Some of my friends teaching here in Korea do not have good relationships with their schools' owners and managers.  Since it is mostly wealthier families who can afford to send their kids to a private school for English lessons, the private schools are ridiculously modern.  Unfortunately, I do not have pictures of ECC, but they have lots of pictures on their website.
