Fall Staff Outing

On Saturday, ECC, the school that I work for, hosted a staff outing for the foreign teachers.  We started by visiting the Songgwangsa Temple, a Buddhist Temple about 45 minutes away from Gwangju, where I live.  There was a beautiful mile and a half path from the parking area to the Temple.  As we walked, the fog that we had been driving through on the way there began to clear, creating some stunning images.
This was my first visit to a Buddhist Temple in South Korea, however, the other foreign teachers told me that once you've seen one, they all begin to look alike.  There are temples all over, and I'm sure I will have plenty of opportunities to visit other temples during my time here.  Our second stop was at Naganeupseong, one of the traditional Korean villages.
The third stop was at Suncheon Bay.  At first I wasn't that impressed.  Suncheon Bay is basically a swamp with boardwalks that allowed you to walk above these wild grasses.  However, there is a mountain at the back of the park that we climbed, and the view from the top was amazing!  From the top, you can see that the water in the Bay leads to the Ocean.
